"The Event" vs. "V"

VS.

The Event: It all starts when Sean Walker (Jason Ritter) and his girlfriend Leila (Sarah Roemer) go on vacation.  A few days into the trip, Leila turns up missing.  Frantic, Sean looks everywhere, only to be told by the receptionist that the cruise has no records of a "Leila" checking in.  After a long search, Sean rescues her.  Together, they begin to uncover a conspiracy that will change the world.  The show goes back and forth between two stories: Sean's, and a story in Washington DC.  Turns out, an enormous number of people are being kept secretly. The president finds out, and demands their release.     Several in his office fight back though; Did I mention the detainees are from another planet? Many claim the detainees have unknown plans which could be dangerous, and setting them free would be a mistake.  Still unconvinced, the President proceeds to free them.  Right before he announces his decision publicly, a plane full of innocent lives, including Sean, are seconds away from crashing into the White House.  The president, his family, and many others watch as their lives are about to come to an end.  At the last second, the plane is pulled out of the sky by an unexplainable force.  It disappears in a sort of "black hole".  With every episode, these two stories become closer and closer, as Sean and Leila search for the truth on Leila's missing sister, dead mother, and who pulled the plane out of the sky?

V: On a normal day, just like any other, hundreds of mysterious space ships emerge and float above cities all over the world.  As millions of confused people stare in disbelief, a friendly face appears.  Anna, the Visitors' leader, reassures that they mean no harm, and simply want to help mankind.  They have technological advances that humans could have never imagined.  They can heal a deathly disease before it even develops in the body!  But why would the visitors want to help mankind?  That's what Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) wants to know, along with hundreds of others who are known as the "Resistance".  Each week the show airs, it becomes more and more obvious that the Visitors are up to no good.  Erica joins forces with other people who also want answers: Jack (Joel Gretsch), Ryan Nichols (Morris Chestnut), and several others.  So, what are the visitors really after?  Hopefully Erica and her crew can figure it out, before it's too late.

So, which is better, "The Event", or "V"?
While both are insanely suspenseful and enjoyable, "The Event" would win.  The only problem with "V" is how slow moving it is.  Each week, Erica and her friends chase after the visitors, but only sometimes do they uncover something significant.  On the other hand, at least one HUGE twist occurs in "The Event" every week, which keeps viewers hooked.  So, what do you like more, "The Event", or "V"?
